Perfect for a relaxing massage

As someone who really enjoys a massage, I was very excited to try this product. The packaging of the product is simple yet elegant, I am sure I will make use of the tin once the candle has been used up. I was surprised by the size of the product, it is much bigger than I expected and a lot bigger than the other massage candles I have purchased from Lovehoney before. I should have paid attention to the product listing as it clearly states the product weighs in at 170g, most massage candles seem to weigh around 60g, it is worth considering this difference when comparing the cost as whilst you are paying more you are getting a much larger product. The smell of the candle is very nice and should suit most tastes, it is a sweet floral scent with musky vanilla undertones. You can immediately detect the scent when taking off the lid and this intensifies as the candle is burnt. The scent is natural and not overpowering, I sometimes get headaches from strong synthetic smells and wouldn’t be worried about the candle triggering this at all. I found that the smell does linger well on the skin, I could smell it on myself the morning after. Also, the next day when coming back into our bedroom I could faintly smell the scent of the candle from the previous night. Once lit the candle melts fairly quickly. We were quite impatient and started using it straight away, however, it is better to let it burn in order to build up the oil. The oil feels warm on the skin, we were cautious about pouring it directly onto the skin but it was never uncomfortably hot. The texture of the oil is perfect, it is non-sticky, slippery and sinks into the skin well. We had the candle burning for almost an hour and my partner gave me a full body massage. I was surprised at how little the candle had burnt down, at most a sixth of the candle, I anticipate we can get around 4 or 5 more uses of similar length at least. A nice touch is the inclusion of a little plastic spoon, this allows you to spoon the oil out, reducing mess. I also used the spoon to scrape the unmelted parts of the candle at the edges into the centre pool of oil to avoid the candle tunnelling. The spoon easily fits inside the lid of the candle so can be packed away neatly once the candle has cooled. We did notice that at the end of our session the flame was getting quite high and sooty, we did trim the wick before use and I would recommend others do the same and also trim between uses due to this. The only criticism I have is that due to the diameter of the candle tunnelling will be a problem (as mentioned earlier the spoon helps with this), it would have been perfect if the candle had multiple wicks rather than only one at the centre. This will now be our go-to massage candle, I would recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy massage with their partner. It would be perfect for those wanting to start experimenting with temperature play in a safe and relaxing way.
