A quality set of card if you’re a 50 shades fan!

We received this set of date night cards from Lovehoney in return for an honest review - thx LH. As usual they arrived super promptly (even more amazing in our current times) and as usual it was discreetly and well packed.We own a few ‘sexy’ card games and so we’re excited to try something a bit different!Upon opening the packaging we were presented with lovely box that looked and felt quality. Inside were a large number of thick cards, half marked as going out, the other staying in. Each card has a lift up flap with a date night idea. I have to say there has been some thought placed in the design of these - they feel quality!We shuffled the deck and opened a few to see what was inside...and sadly this is we’re I was left a bit disappointed! The ideas are great! However each is then punctuated with a cheesy association with the books or films. For some who are fans of the books/films this might be great - however I’m not a fan and so I found them slightly annoying! I’d have been happier with just the idea, with being told that I should order the same champagne that Christian likes from the books!Also, as a married couple with young kids there is probably only about 10% of the ideas we could possibly achieve - so for us it was a bit of an about-climax.However - if you are free of kids and a big fan of 50 shades I can imagine it would be a great little gift - it was really just the messaging in the cards that kept me a bit cold.

That said, we did incorporate one of the Going Out ideas into a walk through our local village which was fun. You’ll know which one when you come to it!!!If you open the cards carefully, you can read, close and shuffle them so that you can use them again if you wish and my wife also suggested pairing one from each category once we’ve worked our way through them then acting out the combined scenario.You will find that some of the scenarios naturally overlap anyway but that doesn’t detract from the anticipation and fun of opening and preparing for your next date.Each of the suggestions is based on a particular chapter and scenario from the 50 Shades books so keep an open mind and, if you’ve gone as far as buying this set, make yourselves a promise to try them all. The chapter is shown on the card so you can make reference to the book for more information and inspiration if you wish. I’m not going to spoil it by detailing exactly what is on each card, suffice to say that when we opened the card which suggested going out for a romantic meal, we stayed home and decided in advance who would do the cooking and who would be waited on then spiced things up further by each choosing an outfit for the other to wear from our selection of Lovehoney outfits and lingerie.On this occasion, ‘Christian’ got to cook and serve while a very sexy looking ‘Anastasia’ watched and kept him in check which I’m reliably informed is a reversal of the roles but great fun all the same. The role reversal obviously inspired my wife who took the lead for the rest of the evening and assured me that what she did next was true to the theme!!!I haven’t read any of the 50 Shades books yet, apparently I’m the only person in the world who hasn’t but after re-enacting some of these sexy scenarios, I might just do so. This little box of ideas would make a perfect stocking filler at Xmas or just a nice little surprise gift to help spice things up at any time of the year.We’re now looking forward to working our way through the remaining cards although with another lockdown imminent, they’re unlikely to last the full twelve months.

All I can say is what a waste of money. Picture the scene. Come to the end of my shift pattern. Kids at my mums. Night to ourselves. Start off with a few beers and decide to get our game out which we’ve been talking about for ages and have just bought. Total let down. The first card told us to go for a meal to somewhere we’ve never been. Could be anywhere seeing as though we’ve been in lockdown for an eternity. The second said blindfold your partner and feed them some food I.e. strawberries and chocolate. We would’ve had to substitute those for chicken nuggets and some spread cheese. A couple more were just as dreadful the last one we opened said one give the other a massage. Which we duly obliged. We were expecting something a bit different but it we were disappointed. Save your money and buy something else.
